Passion berry pepper is like nothing you've tried before - it has a mild 'cold' heat similar to Sichuan pepper, but with an intense passion fruit aroma and flavour. Crush in a pestle and mortar, and sprinkle over roasted or grilled fish like sea bass.

The passion berry pepper is the fruit of an African plant called Ruta chalapensis. The powerful, tropical fruit aroma is a great match for white fish and prawns. Use passion berry pepper to add complexity to desserts, too. Sprinkle over caramelised pears with vanilla ice cream, infuse in cream for a dark chocolate ganache with a hint of fruity heat, or even sprinkle over slices of ripe mango.
